- Help us with Roadside Cleanup of our Adopted Road
We cleanup our adopted roadside approximately once every 3 to 4 months. These cleanups are performed from Santander Road down towards Pope Road, along SR 312 (our Friends of Anastasia State Park Adopted Road). We are always in great need of volunteers to help out in this effort. The Park provides us with cleaning tools, bags, a pickup truck and safety equipment, but please bring a bottle of water to drink (recommended), sunscreen and gloves (if you have them). The group meets at the intersection of Santander Road and SR 312. There is always a Park staff member and a "Friends" volunteer on-hand to coordinate this effort and to provide any assistance necessary. Depending on the volunteer turnout that we have on the particular cleanup day, we should be done within 1 1/2 to 2 hours or so. You would not believe the interesting (and not so interesting) “stuff” that we find along the roadside. In the past, we have found such items as; an “in-tact wallet” (that we were able to return to its rightful owner) and a “brand new tire” mounted on a rim that we are planning to drop off at a local used tire store. Hopefully we will receive a small donation to Friends in exchange for the tire.
The next Roadside Cleanup date will be posted on or website “Main” and “Calendar” pages. Please stay tuned! If you would like to find out more about this very worthwhile cleanup effort, please contact Rota Roberts at rrinletplace@att.net or Dennis Salvati at friendsofanastasia@yahoo.com. Hope to see you at our next Roadside Cleanup. Thanks!
